A book about Angels and Nephilim, but don't expect the usual sweet teenage romances. Don't get me wrong - there is plenty of teen angst, beautiful girls, sexy boys and special powers but this book will surprise you.
It is violent. Fans of Vaughn will know what I'm talking about. Be prepared to be very surprised with this one. It may well make you cringe, more than once.
The slant this book takes on Angels is very different to any I've read before, and add to that the torturous violence - it makes this book something fresh and different.
Silver is an amazing character and my heart absolutely aches for him.
All the characters are strong and conflicted, but Grace and Megan are really unique and fun. I like all the Nephil children, who manage to all seem real and rounded.
It's a shame this book hasn't had a better reception. It's very on trend and deserves a sequel.

Wow, what can I say? S.W. Vaughn delivers a story and more. I love the cover art of this book. The main character Grace is on the run. She is young, vulnerable and it is hard for her to get close to anyone. Her mother has made life hard for her hence the reason she is on the run at such a young age.
Angels are complex beings. We also see them in a good "light" but Vaughn helps us to see the other side of such supernatural beings. Angels are God's enforcers of the law and ones in this story definitely takes matters into their own hands. Zane, Silver, Lorin all threaten their lively hood.
But there is also 2 sides to a story. Along the way Grace discovers there is another just like her. Lonely and unable to have anyone show her the way or help her understand her nephilim half she helps Megan do just that. Together they learn friendship and trust. But Megan is on the run herself. Together the girls main objective is to survive.
Now that Grace and Megan have discovered each other, there has to be others like them out there too, right?
But with hunters after them, the question remains will they? You'll have to read it to find out for yourself. But you won't be disappointed I promise. This book will definitely be one I will read again and again.
I will be looking forward to reading more of S. W. Vaughn's stories in the future.

I found the story line intriguing and the character development fairly well constructed. I found the friendship between Grace and Megan interesting and believable. However the characterization of Grace's mother, Kendra, seemed to waver between a totally selfish woman to a misunderstood woman just looking for love. I think Kendra was the weakest character simply because the author could not quite make up her mind regarding this person. On the other hand, Silver began somewhat ambiguously, evil incarnate and slowly transformed into a hero who just needed rescuing from his evil incarnate mother, Lorin.
I look forward to possible sequels.
